Grandfather and grandson are using regional herbs and healing plants to distill an exquisite Amaro in Traunstein by Chiemgau – the Mondino is the perfect basis for a variety of cold and hot drinks.
As if the alpine upland of the Chimegau wasn´t beautiful enough by itself, the region is home to a bitter aperitif with a quickly growing following. You could be tempted to say that Mondino Amaro is fast becoming a cult drink. A cult built on a tradition filled foundation. After all, entrepreneur Maximilian Schweinsfurth took over the aperitif´s small distillery in Traunstein, which had been playing “sleeping beauty” for a long time.
Alongside a diligent team of three friends the grandfather is fully engaged in the distillery process again. He is seen as a mentor, and together Mondino is brewed following an original Italian handed down recipe using regional herbs and healing plants of superior organic quality. The liquor´s pleasantly-bitter flavor is gained through gentian root, rhubarb and the bitter orange Arancia Amara – not to be forgotten is the perfectly shaped bottle design. More taste is simply impossible.
