Ever since Berliner Berg started in Spring 2015, every bottle stands for traditional brewing culture inspired by the spirit of Berlin.
The aim of Berliner Berg being, to bridge the gap between German brewing tradition and the international craft beer movement. They re-interpret well-known and forgotten beer styles creatively, following their passion for flavor and complexity by using quality ingredients. In a historic building in Neukölln they built a specialty brewery for sour beers with the very strong focus on Berliner Weisse, brewed in a traditional way with wild yeasts.
Alongside the Berliner Weisse, the Berliner Berg Brauerei presents small batch speciality beers bottled in Champagne bottles in its new range “Bergschloss Series”:
“Franz Sauer”, “Karl Anton”, Altweibersommer” and “Etepetete”: The new beers from the ongoing, one off, small batch “Bergschloss Series” project from the Berliner Berg Brauerei not only have very special names but are very special beers! The “Bergschloss Series” is an opportunity to experiment and play around with beer styles, for example with the yeast and bacteria cultures found in Berliner Weisse and reinterpreting them in “Franz Sauer” or using barrel aging to add a depth and complexity to the beer like in “Etepetete”. It also allows the brewers to pay homage to classic international beer styles they love such as Belgian Dubbel (“Karl Anton”) and Flemish Red (“Altweibersommer”).
