Holon ID

Holon ID is a Hamburg industrial design office, founded in 2009 by David Saupe and Aaron Rauh. The two designers borrowed the name from the Hungarian author Arthur Koestler, who used the term “Holon” to describe the independent whole which is at the same time a necessary part of a larger whole.

This relationship between self-sufficiency and reciprocal functionality, whereby each element is considered both as part of the next larger system as well as an independent unit, is reflected in the basic design concepts of Holon ID: Unconventional materials research and an open approach to technological innovations shape the understanding of design just as much as does a respectful approach to people and resources. The MK is an innovative expandable cooking system, intended to encompass the most varied needs of modern culinary culture. In addition to traditional stationary indoor use, the free-standing cooking system can be used everywhere: It is specifically designed for spontaneous cooking experiences outside the usual kitchen environment, such as on the terrace, in the garden, on the boat deck and in every conceivable space.
