In the fruit-growing community of Schlat in Göppingen (Baden-Württemberg), the Manufacture Jörg Geiger produces high-quality sparkling wines from regional fruit orchards.
In this agricultural landscape of the Swabian Alb grow old varieties of fruit that Jörg Geiger uses as the basis for his creations. In his fruit manufactory, Jörg Geiger collects and cultivates fruit rarities. At the same time, the orchards are important to him as an agricultural space: Orchards offer variety, and therefore Jörg Geiger collects different fruits within a radius of sixty miles from 370 farmers and from more than 40 communities each year from May to December.
Jörg Geiger has a very special place in his heart for small, misshapen apples and pears and for nearly forgotten old varieties. From these he mainly produces soft prosecco, the “Prisecco,” which is drunk primarily as an alcohol-free aperitif. But Jörg Geiger also has sparkling pear wine or pedigree varietal fruit wines on offer.
