The historically significant lamps of the manufactory “Midgard” are distinguished by functionality, craftsmanship perfection and thought-out concepts. With all parts, the luminaires are produced in Germany using old original tools and original techniques from the founding days.

The rugged and maintenance-free die-cast joints and the hand-pressed screens turn the luminaires with industrial charms into durable and highly flexible lamps for work and life. A great admirer of the lights was the Bauhaus member and founder Walter Gropius. Between 1927 and 1931, he and Curt Fischer, the founder of today’s manufactory and one of the great inventors of the century, were in letter contact. The luminaire systems, which have been produced to this day, are modular and configurable: as table, wall, ceiling or floor lamps. Since 2017, there is the possibility to design the luminaires individually via an online 3D configurator and an augmented app.

In 1919, Curt Fischer took over the Thuringian industrial site “Auma”. He completed the company name with Ronneberger and Fischer, in memory of Konrad Ronneberger, who founded the factory in 1912. At the end of the First World War, industrialization ensured that there had to be worked until late in the evening. However, the lamps used at that time only donated light from above, so the worker shaded his work piece. For a tinkerer like Fischer an exciting challenge. In 1919, he patented his famous adjustable arm. Further models followed the design: the steering lamps, as well as the machine lights, with whose developments Fischer became the inventor of the steerable light. In 1956, his son Wolfgang took over the company. He led the expropriated company later also through the time of the GDR and organized the reorientation after the reprivatisation in 1989. In 2015, the Hamburg-based David Einsiedler and Joke Rasch took over the rights of the company and acquired all the existing tools, luminaire parts and the comprehensive company archive. Since 2017, after extensive restructuring measures, the series production of Midgard luminaires, which can look back on a 100-year history, is running.
