“Complicated problems call for pragmatic solutions.” This is the motto of the designer Michael Hilgers, who creates the space-saving, minimalist and functional furniture line minimalhome for the office, living room and outdoor areas in his Berlin studio.
The trained architect developed the pragmatic design method: in this design principle, Hilgers deliberately ignores conventional products in order to create novel, individual and above all practical solutions. The resulting furniture appears familiar at first sight but its reinterpretation, the hidden functions and surprisingly simple constructions offer an absolutely innovative answer to everyday living problems. Hilgers is attracted by the specials in every day rather than the spectacular form of a new invention. He has won numerous awards, including the Iconic Award and the German Design Award twice, as well as Interior Innovation Award three times.
