For generations, wines with great aging potential and with a biography that tells of stories were grown on the Wegeler wine-estates in the Rheingau and the Mosel.
Following their motto of “Quality is our philosophy,” the family exclusively produces Wegeler today with high-quality Rieslings just as it has done more than 130 years ago. Wegeler produce wines with their own hands, the dismounting takes place exclusively in their own cellars and are filled with their own filling machinery. Thus, the entire development process is controlled by Wegeler from the planting of a vineyard to the finished filled bottle. Today the privy councillor Julius Wegeler has two wineries, the manor Oestrich and the manor Bernkastel, with a total of 60 hectares. Moreover, since 1998, the two manor houses that produce independently have been led by the husband and wife Anja Wegeler-Drieseberg and Dr. Tom Drieseberg.
The first and most important basis for the wine quality is the quality of the location. With 16 different “First Growths” positions Wegeler has an incomparable location potential with different terroirs. This location potential is also the foundation for the great location of the privy councillor blend “J”, the internationally renowned privy councillor “J” sect which even the Queen drank in the state reception with the former Federal President Köhler.
