The still young vineyard Domtalhof in the Rhine Hessian Nierstein on the Rhine creates first class Rieslings and Pinot Gris as well as red wines such as Spätburgunder, Dornfelder and Cabernet Dorsa, a newly cultivated German red wine type. It originated from a crossing of the two varieties Blaufränkisch (blue Frankish) and Dornfelder.
The vineyard with twelve hectars of vineyard acreage is farmed by the owners Werner Eimermann and Thore Eimermann. Their philosophy lies in the creation of high quality complex wines, especially Rieslings from the „red slope“. The red slope forms the precipice of the Rhein Hessian plateau on the border between the Mainz Basin and the Upper Rhine Graben. The slope is one of the top locations in Germany. Its sunny slopes and the Rhine´s light reflection and heat storage abilities allow ideal conditions for the ripening of the grapes.
The mineral rich red earth creates wines of unique character, which granted them a top rank under the world´s best white wines. Through intensive work in the vineyard, careful development in the cellar and the goal to produce individual wines the young vineyard has quickly obtained attention from connoisseurs and various nominations and crownings such as their „2014 Sauvignon blanc dry“ has garnered.
